Life coach says we can be our own worst enemy.

This comes as news to no one, I suspect. At one time or another we have seen in ourselves and in others the annoying and seemingly inevitable capacity to sabotage our best intentions, i.e. to become our own worst enemy.

Life coach and counselor, Sonia Miller, has been focusing on this issue. In a recent blog post — part of a series — she discusses ways in which a “higher purpose” individual is ambushed by her ego and becomes her own worst enemy.

Using an artist as an example, Sonia writes:

The needs of the ego might drown out or distort the purity of the soul’s communication through art. Ego gratification such as validation or financial compensation may overpower the initial call to create and express. And the issue of having to prove something can infect the creative process, leaving the artist disconnected and unfulfilled, or even wounded in her ability to produce artwork that touches others the way her soul desires.
