Packaging coaching services with employee assistance programs: a trend in the making.

Coaching News and Events expects to see more and more life and executive coaches partnering with ”employee assistance providers” and taking advantage of a new trend in EAP programs: offering coaching to employees under stress.

Most of us are familiar with the traditional Employee Assistance Program. Through a combination of counseling and other resources, EAP programs help stressed and overwhelmed employees achieve greater balance between their personal and work lives.

Already Corporate Counseling Associates, an EAP provider in New York, is packaging executive coaching sessions for law firms that need their services. According to a CAA news release:

In recent years, the legal industry has become more entrenched in the ongoing war for talent, and Corporate Counseling Associates (CCA) is helping law firms develop a work environment that focuses on attracting and retaining the brightest individuals—partners and associates alike.

Executive Coaching provides managers with leadership skills to guide and inspire their teams—to avoid “information-hoarding” and instead motivate associates by explaining the bigger picture, such as why they’re taking on a heavier caseload or working weekends.

Whether this remains a service unique to CAA or if other EAP providers also start packaging coaching session to their clients remains to be seen. Given the competitiveness of both EAP and coaching services, we think it’s the perfect partnership.
